Command Types

There are many functions needed to process orders. The nature of the hospitality business demands this. The most frequently use commands are found on the Speed button or Toolbar. The Write-On for iPod touch offers two additional command methods: Item and general commands.

Item Commands- Item commands tend to affect single menu items. Item commands are access by selecting a menu item, pausing, and then tapping a menu item again. This process will affect a list of item commands on the Selection screen. Examples of a few selected options found on this list are:

• Quantity
• Course
• Discount Item
• Time Send

You can navigate this section by flicking your finger/stylus up or down on the screen.

General Commands- General Commands tend to affect an entire order or the behavior of the Write-On iPod unit. General commands are access by tapping the Command button and then selecting a command on the selection screen. Examples of a few selected options found on this list are:

• Printer select
• Customer Counts
• Send and stay

You can navigate this section by flicking your finger/stylus up or down on the screen.

Basic Operations

• Add Item to Check(Keyboard Mode)- type abbreviation (typically the first letter of each word) > tap menu item in Selection Window.
• Add Item to Check- (Group Mode)- Choose menu group on the Menu Group pane (lower left). Select item in Selection Window.

• Delete Item/Modifier- left to right flick across menu item/modifier, tap the [Delete] button
• Add Modifier (forced)- forced modifiers will appear after menu item selection. This applies to both Keyboard and Group mode input methods.
• Add Modifier- Keyboard Mode (unforced/free)- Select item on Order window. Tap [Mod] command button, type abbreviation of modifier, tap modifier on Item Selection pane.
• Add Modifier- Group Mode (unforced/free)- Select modifier group In Modifier Group window containing desired modifier. Select modifier in Selection window.

• Change Modifier- tap modifier to be changed on Order window, select new modifier from Selection pane.
• Quantity Increase (incremental)- tap menu item to be affected, select the [Q+] speed button under Selection window.
• Find Menu Item- tap [Find] speed button at the bottom of Selection window.
• Send Menu Items- Tap [Send ] button on bottom toolbar.
• View Entire Check- Press [View] button. From this screen you can perform additional the operations of Deleting , Hold/Unhold, and Reordering items
• Print Guest Check- exit order screen by tapping [Save] or [Table] button, select table/tab on list, tap the[Actions] button and choose "Print"
• Settle Guest Check- Access Tables/Tabs list, select table/tab on list to be settled , tap the [Actions] button, choose settle on list, access the forms of payment (i.e. cash, credits, etc.) by touching the [+] button.

Advanced Operations

• Access Table/Tab List- In the Order Screen, touch the [Tables] button at the bottom of the Order Window. To produce the Tables button- send or save the current order.Use the [Tables/Tabs] button at the top of either the Tabs or Tables Selection screen to switch modes.
• Reorder Item- To reorder an previously ordered items: tap [View] button,select menu item to be reordered, touch the [Actions] button, select 'Reorder" option
• Exit All Remaining Modifiers- tap the [Cancel] option at the bottom of modifier list.
• Skip Remaining Modifiers- tap the [Next] speed button
• Return to Previous Modifiers- tap the [Previous] speed button
• Quantity Increase/Decrease- select menu item to be affected, pause and tap again. Select [Quantity] command in Selection window.
• Add Special Instructions- tap menu item to be affected, select [SP] speed button at the bottom of Selection Window.
• Add Menu Item/Modifiers You Can't Find- type letters in word for reminder and press [Pnd] speed button at the bottom of the Selection window (name will appear on Order window in brackets) .Make sure item in brackets is selected, type in abbreviation, select item on list.
• Hold/Unhold Items- to prevent an item/s from being sent:double tap menu item to be affected, select[Hold] command. Repeat process to unhold item.
• Timed Send- to delay an item send time: :select menu item to be affected, pause and tap again, select [Time Send] command .
• Save Order (exit w/o sending)-tap the [Save] button on lower toolbar.
• Change Menu Course- select menu item to be affected, pause and tap again. Select [Course] command in Item Selection window.
• Change Customer Count- Press [Cmd] button, choose Customer Count option.
• Discount Menu Item- select menu item to be affected, pause and tap again. Select [Discount Item] command in Selection window.
• Adjust Price on Menu Item- select menu item to be affected, pause and tap again. Select [Price Adjust] command in Selection window.
• Adjust Seat Assigned seat Number- tap the menu item and select a new seat number on the Selection Window.
• Server Log Out of Write-On unit- tap the [Cmd] command button in Order screen, select the Logout on the Selection Window.
• Speed Buttons- You will notice that the speed buttons will disappear from the screen .The Speed Buttons (Prev, Next, Pnd, etc) will move down the Selection Window depending on the amount of menu items, modifiers, and command displayed. You can navigate to these buttons by flicking your finger/stylus in an upward motion on the screen.
• Abbreviations- The iPod Write-On now lists the abbreviations next to item and command names. The abbreviations displayed serve as a helpful reminder when ordering same items or using commands on future orders.
